Arrived at Taoyuan International Airport
For travelers aged between 15 to 30, you may apply for Youth Travel Card with valid ID, in the following locations:
- NYC’s nationwide Youth Hub,
- Tourist Center of Taoyuan International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport,
- Tourism Service Center of major railway station, MRT station and airport,
- Center of Chinese Language of College,
- Hsinzu Municipal Government and
- Yunlin County Government, and the office of relevant civil group.
Youth Travel Card will have some discount for scenic spot ticket, transport fee, accommodation fee, delicacy expense and shopping at the shops in network.
Our Youth Travel Card
National Youth Commission (NYC) of Administration Yuan has released 2 types of Youth Travel Card for the youth who is at the age of 15-30 since 2006.
* The blue one (with ocean pattern) is for Taiwanese youths
* The red one (with aboriginal tribe pattern) is for international youths.
Apart from that, we also get our Digital Tour Buddy consisting of a hand set, sim card with talk time of NT100 and phone charger.
The Digital Tour Buddy offers 24-hour service hotline to help foreigners obtain all the travel and services information. Besides, it has in-built dictionary function of English-Chinese translation for backpackers enable to communicate without language problems. If the travelers are confused about where to stay or how to approach a local attraction, the English booking system of the youth hostel and the taxies has set up the one-key dials in the Digital Tour Buddy to solve a lot of the problems that overseas visitors might face.
NOTE: Complete the online booking application form online 7 days before entering Taiwan (Before-entry online application) or 3 days before picking up the Digital Tour Buddy (After-entry online application). After the receipt of the National Youth Commission's approval, the applicants should print the approved booking form, and bring it and other relevant documents (including their passports, passport copy, and one valid photo ID) to pick up the equipment. Once applications are approved, the applicants have to leave a copy of their passport copy and another ID as collaterals, and they will be issued with the Digital Tour Buddies.
From the airport, we took Free Go Airport Bus (Estimate NT480 for 2 person) to Just Sleep Hotel (in Ximending) instead of taxi as we asked for the price and it's about NT 1200.

Half way of the bus journey, we have to change to another bus to reach our hotel.

The hotel room is pretty nice, clean and new except for a small lobby.

It's right beside a 7 eleven convenience store which is good especially at night where you need to look for food =)

And most importantly, the location is superb - 5 mins walk from the underground station or 3 mins stroll outside to the Ximending area.
After we settled down everything, we had our dinner in MOS Burger opposite our hotel.

I miss their rice burger... *sob*sob*..wish can have it in Malaysia
Then the next destination for shopping and food is Shihlin Night Market.

=> Take the Red Line to Jiantan Station.
The night market is divided into two areas:
- food place: the sheltered food court located opposite the Jiantan MRT Station
- shopping place: across it is the area that stretches from YangMing cinema to Danan Road, Dadong Road and Wenlin Road.
